Tell us about yourself and your background.

After graduating from the University of Washington with a B.S. in Economics and Mathematics, I started my career with a regional advisory firm that serves the complex needs of high-net-worth families. From that experience, I learned what it takes to help investors achieve their financial goals, gaining experience in all facets of wealth management.

Seven years later, I was looking for a career change and decided to relocate to Atlanta, GA., for a new opportunity as an analyst with Delta Air Lines. After about a year, I learned of a consultant role on the Tamarac Advisor Rebalancing Team through a friend at my former advisory firm. With interest in moving back to Seattle, I applied for the job and landed it.

What brought you to Tamarac?

I joined Tamarac in 2012 as a Consultant on Advisor Rebalancing and then had the opportunity to transition to a management role on Tamarac Trading in 2016, where I spent three years managing a team of consultants and support staff. In April 2019, I assumed my new role in Project Management. From a professional perspective, what’s impressed me the most are the opportunities I’ve found to build a career in a culture of continual learning. The firm is always changing and growing, and the technology we offer today will probably be very different five years from now. That’s what keeps me moving forward.

When I started as a consultant, I focused on a single product and became the subject matter expert for everything related to that product. In my new role, I’m looking at the world through a wider lens, strategizing about how we can best help advisors throughout the entire onboarding process and beyond. From creating an action plan based on specific needs to helping advisors learn the intricacies of the platform, we push the limits of our technology to meet differing demands.

What inspires you about working at Tamarac?

There’s no “typical” day, and that’s what makes this environment so exciting. I value the smart professionals I work with, and, after seven years, my co-workers are more like family. If you’re willing to work hard and stretch your mind and imagination, you can be successful at Tamarac.

For my team, nothing is more critical than the trusted relationships we build with advisors. As the primary touchpoint for new relationships, we deliver a hands-on onboarding experience that positions RIAs for success. Whether it’s solving an advisor’s unique workflow need, responding to complexities with alternative solutions or helping a firm work through change management, we connect directly with our advisor clients – so they experience the support of our highly experienced team every step of the way.

When onboarding, we look at the holistic picture and ask the right questions to build out a training plan that meets a firm’s needs. We also take the time to listen and then provide the dedicated resources that are needed. Advisors find our onboarding experience to be a total win, and they look forward to delivering our more powerful technology solutions to their end-clients.

When it comes to financial wellness, how do you see Envestnet | Tamarac making a difference?

We empower RIAs and give them more time to focus on client relationships and the growth of their business. By providing end-clients with a holistic view of their financial life, advisors can engage in the development of plans to meet short-term needs and long-term financial goals. An advisor’s ability to deliver a complete wealth management experience with our Tamarac software and then help end-clients achieve their goals – that’s a powerful combination.
